The past 6 weeks, we have had the opportunity to use the K5 Learning online Math & Reading Program. K5 Learning has an online reading and math program for kindergarten to grade 5 students. I’ve been given a free trial to test and write a review of their program. If you are a blogger, you may want to check out their open invitation to write an online learning review of their program.
Our 5 year old LOVES to do anything online and since there’s really not much out there on the internet suitable for this age group, we jumped at the opportunity to review this program. It is a GREAT online reading and math program for kids from kindergarten to grade 5. K5 is designed specifically for young children to use at home which we have been doing after-school and on the weekend. I’m positive we’ll be carrying it over for summertime supplemental study as well. Also, for you home school parents, this program will be perfect in conjunction with a homeschooling program.
Ethan (5) had to complete a similar online program in school this year as part of the curriculum. It was a math only program. While he was doing K5, we asked him questions along the way to get his opinion as to what was good, bad etc compared to the one the school itself provided. He likes K5 WAY better! He likes that it ‘talks to you’. Which from my perspective helped tons compared to the school’s program which simply threw problems up and we had to sort of ‘wing it’ to figure out what was supposed to be done. We didn’t have a clue how to help guide him when there was no explanation as to what the level was teaching. K5 has different characters instructing you throughout the entire program to help work and learn your way to better math skills and reading. We both decided this approach was a huge help and very well designed. They absolutely put kids thinking and comprehension levels in mind when designing the program!
When we began, Ethan completed an online assessment test. He was guided through fun questions in both math and reading and it assessed his knowledge level so they could tailor the lessons to his skills and weaknesses in each area. The assessment had short game breaks in between the questions, which was good to keep Ethan’s attention as well as make it enjoyable. Let’s face it, if you can get kids excited about learning, they want to do it and it doesn’t seem like ‘work’ at all! Once his assessment was completed, the lessons were perfectly suited for him! We loved knowing that K5 catered to Ethan’s strengths and weaknesses when it came to each subject rather than simply having a ‘catch all’ for age groups and him trying to keep up with . It’s a very personalized program! Each lesson is both animated and interactive, it wasn’t hard to keep his attention and he actually asked to ‘play’! The program even tracks the student’s progress and provides reports for the parents to review! I can’t say enough good things about this program!!
K5 has been generous enough to offer my readers a 14 day free trial, (no obligations, no credit card!!!!) Which gives you full access to the complete program. This includes K5 Math, K5 Reading, K5 Spelling and K5 Math Facts. As part of the free trial, your child will receive a free reading assessment and a free math assessment. (Please tell them Grandma Juice – Ronni Keller directed you to the program for your free trial!) I am positive you will be as pleased with this program as we are!
Disclaimer: I received 6 weeks free of the K5 Learning Program for this review. The opinions I have given are my own honest feeling regarding this product. I ONLY recommend products to my readers I firmly believe in.
I’m definitely going to check this out for A. Thanks!!!
