Grandma Juice Thinks Memes Suck

Grandma Juice Thinks Memes Suck There. I Said It.

Wordless Wednesday, Thoughts For Thursday, Food On Friday….  STOP IT! Memes suck you guys! And, I simply can’t keep up. I have to Tweet, Facebook it, Link it in, Reedit, Stumble It and my Tribe will be oh so angry of I don’t trip the Tribber. I can’t play the meme game. And, let’s face it. They really are so annoying. Grandma’s coming clean. I ignore them! I let them slide away like a slug until the next one rolls around. I would however participate much more enthusiastically if there was a Suck It Sunday. I could make lists of all the things I think suck. #1 would be memes.

What is a meme? Wikipedia says:

A meme is “an idea, behavior or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.” (much like herpes?) A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. (what exactly is ‘imitable phenomena’?) Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate and respond to selective pressures.

Whew, that was painful. Because memes suck! And certainly didn’t clear things up now, huh? Basically, bloggers are forced through peer pressure to pump out content with a common theme that all must participate in to be included in the cool kids club. Well, Grandma is bucking the system and handing in her cool kids club card. Hater’s may hate, but I ain’t (yes, I said ain’t) gonna do it. Can’t make me, don’t wanna, never again.

So how are we going to keep up with what’s going on in the life of all things Grandma Juice? That’s the burning question, I know. Well, I’ll tell you. Read what I have to say! Easy peasy pumpkin cheesy! Read about my life!. I’m in there!. See what I’ve cooked up! You can tell a LOT about a person by what they eat. (Example: UnCrustables, Cheese-in-a-can) You should totally check out my media kit / PR page! OMG! It’s High.Lar.I.Ous! (or, so I’ve been told) Follow me on Twitter! That’s where the magic happens! In between all the promos for whatever my giveaway of the day is, I’ve been know to throw out some pretty raunchy funny jokes. You have to look close though. My feed is full of  # and pimping ,  but they are there. And no, I don’t do the pooping and tweeting thing. Maybe 1 day before I die… maybe.

What do you think sucks about today’s internet connections? Do you play any meme games? Do you answer the 383556 1/2 surveys people send you?
In 140 characters or less, tell me what’s you least (or favorite) meme and why!

TAG! YOU’RE IT!

  1. I actually like looking at funny memes but I don’t do chain letters, surveys, games. I can’t believe people still forward them!!!

  2. Love it!! Great post and soo true, although dont think Ive ever been in the cool kids club!! I must admit though I do like some hops and wordless wednesday, I think its because of the interaction and some of it is quite humourous x

  3. I will occasionally participate but agree that it can be a bit overwhelming at times!

  4. I don’t mind Wordless Wednesdays and such but don’t care for all the survey requests and such on FB.
I’ve done a few Wordless Wednesdays.

  5. I Don’t do them, Grandma Juice!

  6. OMG! He looks like the Racoon who hangs out by my moms house!

  7. I don’t do the survey ones either! I rarely remember to do wordless wednesday. I feel like such a triberr slacker, i just tweet. Sometimes I +1 but im in 3 huge tribes and it just gets overwhelming!

  8. sometimes i enjoy them. i find it hard to reply sometimes!!!

  9. I don’t have time to do them!

  10. I actually think a lot of the photo memes are funny- except for condescending wonka. He bugs me. 🙁

I don’t participate in any blog hops right now, but I think I’m going to pick 1 or 2 a week to do. I like to be in the loop but right now blogging is just a hobby for me.

  11. Right now, I enjoy doing Wordless Wednesday, but I know that one day I will be tired of it.

  12. The only meme I look at it the “Hey Girl” Ryan Gosling one. Funny. and he has his shirt off in lots of the pics, which is not a bad thing and a good reason to read it IMO

  13. I’ve never really understood memes and don’t ever pay any attention to them. I’m sure they are great for some, everyone has a niche. My blog isn’t one that would work with memes anyway so I haven’t ever felt pressured to join in!

  14. Memes are so last year… scratch that, so 3 years ago…lol

I think they suck too 😀

  15. So I’m in the process of eliminating some of the meme’s from my blog. I started them near the beginning to help me get in the habit of blogging daily, and getting daily interaction. I needed the theme inspiration.

But now, I’m feeling extremely overwhelmed by them all! Many of them is far more work than they are worth the traffic that they bring in! I’ll probably be getting rid of all but 2 or 3 of them. I will keep wordless Wednesday, simply because sometimes I need an easy post to go live quickly while i’m working on the richer content stuff, and it’s a big traffic source, but the others…they will soon be saying their goodbyes.
They definitely helped spark ideas and get me in the good habit of writing daily, but now I think it’s time I moved on. 🙂

  16. I agree!

  17. I do Wordless Wednesday just because I like to take pictures & What’s Cooking Wednesday because I like to cook 🙂 That’s it though. WW is a great traffic source.
