San Diego Pirate Ship Adventures At Sea
Ahoy Mateys! How was your long holiday Labor Day weekend? Did you relax and un-labor? Do the BBQ with the family thing or lounge on the couch and catch up on DVR’d TV shows like me? I went through about 8 hours of reality TV I missed while we were away on our trip to San Diego. But, it’s back to work today. So, let’s pick up on Grandma Juice Travels tales with our super FULL OF THE AWESOME Pirate Ship Cruise we went on, shall we?
We had planned to hit up The San Diego Zoo, but from our balcony view at The Sheraton Hotel & Marina all Ethan could focus on was that very cool pirate ship docked right below us in Mission Bay. So, we made a few phone calls and switched our plans around a bit. We decided to find our sea legs and climbed aboard The Treasure Seeker!
(notice his scared to death grip on my chair while trying to maintain the ‘cool guy’ stance)
<insert best pirate speak here> ‘Twas a swashbuckling good time we be seekin’ (I pictured Johnny Depp saying that all smexy pirate like) So, we embarked upon an unforgettable journey into the adventurous pirate world on a very real and very cool pirate ship in search of fortune and glory. It was family friendly, so there was some slight pillaging and only a few rum punch drunks. Sadly, I did neither. Ethan however, did pillage!
(busted for pillaging)
<insert more smexy Johnny Depp pirate speak here> It ’twas a pirate ship adventure we be a seekin, aye… So, we did our best hoppin’ aboard the galleon “Treasure Seeker” and became the newest galley mates. Aye, we were embarkin’ upon a journey to a time long ago, where pirates battle, oceans are explored and treasure be discovered! (end smexy pirate speak) We took the most magical interactive adventure and set sail on and unforgettable journey filled with fun and excitement.
(and poop deck swabbin’)
We learned to live the pirate life as we explored San Diego Bay on a 2 hour voyage. And let me tell you, this voyage incorporates all things pirate! Mutiny, sword fights, singin’ and dancin’, but ye best be warned mateys… These waters are patrolled by rival pirates. So we were keepin’ a keen eye out! Our Captain Long Beard taught us to be prepared to man a cannon and defend the pirate ship. For if we were victorious, we be splittin’ the spoils of the day!
Captain Long Beard and crew gave all new mateys the full on pirate life treatment too! All aboard really did sword fight, swab the decks, pull a buried treasure out of the sea and dance like only rum punch drunk pirates can! (I really wish I could get the embed code for the video of Ethan dancing to work… OMG I laughed so hard, I actually cried)
And this wench… she blew Grandpa over here a kiss! I totally would have taken her ass down for that if we weren’t under ‘pirate law’. But, I was afraid they’d make me walk the plank.
It was really a wonderful day cruise on the pirate ship! I found out later, the crew is comedic actors but the Captain really is US Coast Guard certified. They never broke character throughout the entire voyage. From the ship, we were able to see all of San Diego Bay and even the biggest sea lion sun bathing on a buoy! It was a good call on Ethan’s part to skip the zoo and swap out for the pirate ship tour! VERY family friendly, full of entertainment and we highly suggest if you’re planning a trip to San Diego, do NOT miss scheduling in a Pirate Ship Adventures tour!
WOW – that is pretty cool. I am afraid to go on boats, because I am not sure if my child gets too much into character and decides to jump overboard :))
How fun!! I’m SURE my kids would love this adventure. Thanks for the great review 🙂
That looks like so much fun!
What a fun way to spend the day with your grandson – and it looks like he had a fantastic time. Kids get us to do some pretty out-there things, don’t they!
Oh my gosh, that looks like so much fun! My kids would love to get on a pirate ship and be pirates for the day. I wish I was in San Diego!
Super fun! We went on one of these pirate ships in Clearwater, FL and had a blast!
This is the coolest thing I”ve seen -EVER!!!! I totally am going to have to save up for this…. LOVE IT!!!
This looks like something my boys would love! We have a pirate weekend at the beach once a year but it’s not to this scale at all! Looks like so much fun!
This is so cool! I actually live in San Diego and I had no idea that they did these voyages. I will have to take my son!
That looks like so much fun! San Diego would be such a fun place to go. There are so many fun things to do & see…and now I have one more to add to my list!
That sounds like such a blast! I love that they stay in character the whole time!
wow what a fun expereince I know that had to be fun. I have been to san diego only once and unfortunately not on my list, i was in early 20s
That is so cool!
How fun!!! San Diego is beautiful, I hope to take a family vacation there sometime (like we did when I was young) and I’ll have to remember this boat! Oh, also, totally jealous of your 8 hours of reality TV lol!
Oh, what fun! when I take a visit down to San Diego I’ll have to keep this one in mind. And what fun with your accent and writing of this post. I’m a huge pirate fan and have always been fascinated with their battles, so to be on board as they reenacted, that’d be an experience.
They have one of these in Clearwater, FL. We took some of our grandsons when they were little. They LOVED it!
This is totally awesome!! What a great find! And, love how you were all impromptu about it! Those times often make the best memories!
My kids are so in to pirates right now! They would adore this. Too much to try and fit over Nevada Day!
So cool! I’ll have to tell my daughter about this so next time she and my son-in-law take my pirate-loving grandsons to San Diego they can check this out. Sounds like a great time…even with limited rum punch drinks. 😀
Looks like y’all had a blast!!
How cool…the Pirate Ship Adventures tour sound like so much fun!! I didn’t know there was something like this in San Diego. And I think it’s cool that you change your plans because he was eyeing that ship…sure to be a memory he’ll never forget.
I LOVE San Diego and can’t wait to get back there with the family.
Great to hear that you and the family had a wonderful time.
That looks like fun! I’ve never known there was a pirate ship adventure around here!
