So, I got a totally bummed phone call the other day. My oldest, Frank, he won’t be coming home for the holidays this year. Uncle Sam has stationed him across an entire ocean. I haven’t seen him in over a year. He was supposed to get leave and bring himself and his lovely wife right on home, finally. Mess up the house with the rest of our brood. Make dirty dishes, piles of laundry. Pick at his brothers & sisters. You know, like the good old days when they were all young and still got on my nerves. Nope. Not happening. On top of that, he tells me he’s being deployed to Afghanistan. He’ll get a block leave before he goes ‘away’, but… I haz ‘da sadz…
I ran into this contest on Facebook a little while ago… I’m thinking of entering. What do you think?
Home For The Holidays
Febreze Seasons Giveaway Facebook Contest goes like this…
Febreze is running a contest over on their Facebook Page. All you have to do is tell your story of a loved one who can’t be home for the holidays this year. Simple enough, right? If you do, you are in the running to win $10,000 to help make this holiday just a little bit brighter for those who are separated. It is amazing how one holiday memory can take you home for the holidays, even when you’re far away. Do you know someone who can’t be home for the holidays this year? Whatever your own personal situation is, Febreze wants to help you!
Let’s face it, I’m not the only one bumming this time of year! What’s your story?
The Febreze Best of Holidays Past Contest starts 11/5/12 and ends 11/27 so hurry! I’m headed there right now!
I’m so sorry that you won’t get to see your son for the holidays. 🙁 It’s amazing how scents can remind of memories so vividly though, isn’t it?
Sorry your son won’t be making it home for the holidays. I have not got to that point yet but I am sure my oldest will be moved out by this time next year. Oh… too painful to think about. 🙁
Well that just sucks! Our little family were one of those families that couldn’t make it home for the Holidays for 5 years straight. When we were in the military; we were stationed in Germany and then the Husband immediately deployed for 15 months, which made him miss 2 Christmas and Thanksgivings in a row. It sucked. I wish we could have had a sweepstakes like the Fabreze one! Maybe I could have taken the kids home to family for those holidays we were alone.
🙁 Was looking forward to my sister coming over but she can’t make it either 🙁
What a great contest. This will really make one family’s year won’t it!
I don’t think my parents are going to make it this year. We told them months ago that we wanted to have Christmas at our house so my daughter could wake up and experience “Santa” at her home.
So sorry! I would be bummed too! Seeing him later on will be that much more special!
I am sooo sorry 🙁 It must be incredibly difficult for you. This is an awesome contest and I am excited for the family that will win it!
So sorry!!! =( What a bummer!
I’ll be missing my son this holiday season also. It’s a real bummer.
Bummer!!! The sacrifices military families make – it’s much appreciated from this military wife who’s spent many a holiday, birthday, anniversary without my husband. Great contest from Febreze! You definitley should enter 🙂
That really sucks. I hope you win!
This will be my 1st Christmas without ANY of my trio. Yep, guess we’ll both be having more than whipped cream in our hot chocolates this year. BB2U
So sorry you will be separated this holiday season, and give your son a special hug from all of us in thanks of his service!
i know how you feel. we had thanksgiving, birthday, xmas last weekend. son-in-law deploying next week and kids each live in a different state.
Aww, I’m sorry he won’t be home soon. This sounds like a great contest and I hope you enter and win! Sounds like a perfect person to get it. Hugs!!
I’m sorry about your son-I hope you win!!
I haven’t seen my sisters or mother for 3 Christmases now, it really stinks , but things have a way for making up for lost time, I wish you all the best!
Oh no! I hope he somehow makes it home to celebrate with you!
I hope you win! Make some good memories and share them with each other on another day. My husband has been deployed twice for year long deployments so we’ve missed a few holidays, and we missed our first and second wedding anniversary due to deployment. I hate that they have to miss such meaningful holidays with family, but I’m so grateful they are there to serve our country. Tell your son thank you for me! Thank you too! The families who are at home sacrifice a lot too.
Sorry you can’t see your son this holiday. I can’t see my momma, but may be able to this spring. Scents always make me timetravel. Always. Sometimes I can’t [inpont where i smelled something familiar before, but I know I did. Drives me crazy lol
Oh my heart hurts for you, you got a double whammy): Your son and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!
I love that Febreeze is doing this and I can’t imagine all the heart warming stories that will be submitted!
Aww! I am so sorry he won;t be there! This contest is a wonderful idea though! I cannot wait to see all of the wonderful stories!
aww! Hopefully he can come home soon! Please thank him for taking care of all of us!
I love febreeze, and that’s really nice of them to do a contest like this. Gives us missing our families something to do/look forward to.
I love Febreeze! This contest sounds exciting! I am sorry that your son won’t be home for the holidays 🙁 That must be really hard for your family.
Hopefully, he and his family will get to be home with you next year. This makes em sad as my oldest leaves for boot camp in just a few short months…it’s hard when your kids grow up 🙁
What a great contest.. This would definitely make up for your son not being there, but I guess not for having to have him deployed… 🙁 Thats a bummer…
That is so hard not getting to see your son in a year! I think that it is a good idea if you enter the contest! It would be so neat if you won, and the $10,000 dollars could help you and your son be together! I hope that you are able to talk to your son over the Holidays and that he comes home soon! I thank him for his continued support of helping protect all of us in the US and I pray for his safety!
So sorry, that’s a bummer! I know I’d find it home if my daughter wouldn’t come home for Christmas, it wouldn’t be the same. I miss when they were small at Christmas. Enter the contest, you never know and good luck 🙂
(Huguette E.)
I hope you will get to see your son soon, happy and healthy. I hope you win! Good luck!
Sorry your son won’t make it home. I will miss my sister on Christmas.
