‘Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving Dinner and I’m Too Tired To Cook

Quick Night Before Thanksgiving Dinner

‘Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving Dinner and I’m Too Tired To Cook

So, call me too tired. Too pooped to party. Stick a fork in me, I’m done. We spent the whole week cleaning for the crazy family that’s about to invade. Then, of course we had to do some major shopping for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Then, most important, all of today we were making pies. All that taste testing (what?) is exhausting! Woe is me, what’s a hard working, bone tired Grandma Juice to do? (did you feel even a little bad for me with that?)

I popped open one of these easy, peasy (and very quick!) Campbell’s Skillet Sauces they sent over for me to test out. I’ve said before that I am not a fan of dumping a can of creamed soup on meat and calling it dinner. So, I admit to being leary about these. But, it’s the night before Thanksgiving dinner and we already cooked up a storm. I’m pooped ya’ll! I settled on the Toasted Sesame with garlic and ginger. It sounded good!

And ya know what? It was pretty good too. I was pleasantly surprised. Not at all like dumping a can of creamed soup on meat either. It had really good flavor and smelled pretty tasty too. It was beyond easy to make. We cooked up the chicken breast, and then added the sauce to the pan. Let it come to a boil, reduce the heat and cover. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes and done! Even Ethan decided the kitchen smelled really good by then. We added an easy salad and some garlic toast. And, after cooking Thanksgiving dinner foods all day, it was nice to have this for a quick and tasty meal. I can totally see using this during a busy week or even a quick dinner for 2 when we have a weekend alone and catching up on TV time.

Campbell’s Skillet Sauces come in 6 different varieties:

  • Creamy Chipotle with Roasted Corn & Black Beans
  • Marasla with Mushrooms & Garlic
  • Thai Green Curry with Lemongrass & Basil
  • Toasted Sesame with Garlic & Ginger
  • Fire Roasted Tomato with Red Bell Peppers & Chilies
  • Scampi with White Wine & Garlic

I can see using beef or shrimp too and not just chicken. Also, maybe substitute the pasta with rice even. You can pick them up in most nationwide grocery stores where you find marinades, sauces. That aisle! I am going to put the Grandma Juice stamp of approval on this quick fixin’ dinner helper.

No financial compensation was received. Campbell supplied me with the product so I could facilitate this review. As always,  all opinions are my own. And you know I’m just full of them!
