What’s The Perfect Gift Idea? Wine, Of Course!

What? You didn’t expect me to say a sweater, did you? Wine… say it with me. WINE!!! The perfect gift idea all year long! Ok, for me it’s totally the perfect gift idea all year long, like… Thursday’s even. For some, they prefer this sweet nectar of the God’s (Jesus, turned water into wine, a glorious gift!) on special occasions. Totally cool too.

Clearly, I love my wine. And, while I’m not an expert by any stretch, I know what I like. And, I like it even better when it shows up right on my doorstep! A few weeks ago, I had the coolest package dropped off on my doorstep from California Wine Club. Check this out!

California Wine Club A Perfect Gift Idea!

Our November wines were a white and a red from the Robledo Family Winery. A 2009 “Seven Brothers” Napa Valley Tempranillo (red)   and a 2008 “Seven Brothers” Lake County Sauvignon Blanc (white). We popped the white open first. They describe the  Sauvignon Blanc as a summery wine. It has aromas of honeysuckle and mango which made it perfectly smooth and just enough ‘sweet’ without the overly ‘sweet’, my favorite of the two! Also, it consists of green tea, citrus, and lemongrass. I’m assuming in my not wine expert opinion is why it wasn’t that overly ‘sweet’. I’m buying again! Well, I’m buying 3 bottles but who’s counting. This wine would be really good paired with seafood or even a nice salad. It’s super on the couch watching reality TV too.

Next, we decided to do a little something different with the red. They describe the Tempranillo as having heavy aromas of cranberry, blackberry, cinnamon, spice, and toasted oak. Which made it a really great flavorful wine without the dryness that usually turns me off. I was nicely surprised because I’m not a fan of reds typically. It also consists of dried black fruit, and toasted cedar. This is a great wine to pair with meat and veggies, which is exactly what we did! We made a super Flank Steak Recipe and marinated it using some of the red! You should absolutely try it! D.Lish.Us!
