Ultimate 80s Music List Otherwise Known As The Song Track of My Life
The 80s music list. A whole sound track to my life. Yes, yes I did dye my hair blonde. Let’s pretend that never happened. There’s a baby daddy in there also. We could pretend that never happened too, but… Hello! There was a baby!
Music shapes our life. It has a unique way of taking us ‘back’. Back there, back when, back to Oh My God You Did Not! And back to some Fuck Yeah, I Sure Did! (stories for another day, sorry) For those of us lucky enough to have the 80s music list shape our lives…
Party On!

So?? What’s the sound track to your life?
I’m nto sure what my soundtrack is, but I’m surprised how many of these songs I’ve heard of before considering I was born in 91.
You just turned the knife! I had baby 3 that year! But, I was still boppin to the 80s music list! 🙂
lol, I don’t think you want to know. I listen to all types of music.
Try me! I have way more… but my list was getting HUGE!
OMG! I love this!!! While I am younger (born in 83) I know and love a ton of these! I honestly do not fit into the music genre of today and am all about the “oldies”. I grew up with my step-dad listening to the “oldies” and still love that era as well as up to the 90’s! I think a lot from your lists are actually on my iPod!
So you have good taste!! Also, I have NO clue about music today. I discovered I’m turning into {my mother} … it’s all just noise!
LOL This is so funny. I love all these songs and I have probably been on stage singing each of them at least 100 times LOL Well most of them:) Love the 80’s
I seriously wish I was here for your stage days!!
Wowza! What a great compilation! I love listening to 80s music every now and then. I’m glad I have a list I can check out now (:
Nothing better than some good 80s music!
Love this list! I was only 5 when the 80s started, but I still remember a ton of these songs. My mom used to work at a bar, and the owner had a thing for her, so he’d give me unlimited plays on the juke box. That is a very bad thing to give a kid, lol! I played Another Brick in the Wall over and over and over again.
There’s a gazillion 70’s songs that were my ‘Sound Track’ but it kinda didn’t fit the ’80s music list’ theme! LOL… Oh the memories of being young and cool, huh?
DUUUUUUDDDEEEE!!!!! You need to go make a Spotify playlist so I can subscribe to it.
DUUUUUUDDDEEE!!!! It totally should!
I’m still musically stuck in the 70s and 80s! The music was totally awesome! I knew all of these songs, and yes, they could easily be the soundtrack of my life too! I freakin love it!
Woot! My work here is complete 🙂
And a job well done!
I cannot believe that I posted today on your FB about Eye of the Tiger, before I read this. NO JOKE (well you do know me and know I don’t lie like that anyway!). That is freaky. I think it is a sign your dad is thinking of you 🙂 Really!!
My ultimate favorite song in life, ever, if… Melt With You, by Modern English. From Valley Girl. I remember watching that with your Jess, her telling me it was stupid! HA! I love love love that movie.
GOOD MEMORIES!! THANKS 🙂
I thought you wrote that BECAUSE you read this earlier!! I like to think a lot of *things*, coincidences, etc… are my dad saying “hey”! Also, when I was typing this up, I absolutely remembered watching it with Jess and her thinking it was dumb and going ‘Whaaaaat’….!!! Also again, they don’t ‘get’ the Breakfast Club!! Frank does… the others, not my genes 🙂
Sometimes I cannot believe how NAIVE I was singing this song… LOUDLY in my red mustang…… Pour Some Sugar On Me – Def Leppard HA!!!
Oh!! And Cum on Feel The Noise… I thought I was making fun of my mom not liking ‘noisy’ music! Not as cool kid as I thought I was either LOL
And again, again…
Journey Open Arms… Always makes me think of Kevin B we roller-skated at Main-Street USA to that in a ‘couples skate’… I thought I died and went to heaven LOL
Love listening to the music and remembering what was going on in the 80’s, hearing some say the oldies when referring to 80’s music makes me feel way older than I thought I was!
AND!!! Do you know that 80’s music is now considered ;’classic’… I think NO! The 60’s stuff my dad listened to is ‘classic’… asshats better changes that, huh??? 🙂
What a great list!! I love to find youtube covers that my daughter my be in to so she can enjoy the lyrics of the 80’s!!
Ahhhh, good old G ‘n’ R. Sweet Child O’ Mine is “our” song. *sigh* Yes, I know I’m getting old. And, yes, I’m kind of lame. 😛
Did I miss it, or did you not have any Crue on this list? Oh man, Motley Crue. Oh man, The ’80s. I miss that decade. Life was so much simpler then. *long sigh*
I am a youngen so my soundtrack would be slightly different. Luckily my husband listens to a lot of the songs you have listed so I know many of them. 🙂
This is why I think you are SOOO awesome! I am a bit too young for this to be the soundtrack of my life, but I remember all those songs. I grew up in the late 80s early 90s! LOVE AC/DC!
I love this list! I was reading through going, Oh man that song rocks, or remembering a specific memory to a certain song.
rock on 80’s! My favorite band of all times I think is still Def Leppard
I’m just a “few” years younger than you, but I know about 95% of these songs… You have great taste in music!
I would have to put my sound track in the late 90’s! I know, I’m a baby! Great list, though!
I love your list! I would say the 80’s is the sound track to my life.
That you were able to come up will all those songs for each year amazes me! I was still in elementary school but, yes, those songs resonate with me for sure!
Some of those songs transport me back in time.
i love all of those songs! the 80’s rocked. my soundtrack is made up of a bit of everything.i love joan jett, frank sinatra,90’s pop, johnny cash, afi, the smiths and so much more. i have to go download some of those songs now!
LOL Love this. Thanks for taking me back. I was very very young for most of these, but those are the songs that really bring up memories for me.
I looooooove Guns N Roses! Also miss the Bangles! Thanks for the flashback in time!
This is a great list! I love 80s music!
I so love your list, it sure brought back a lot of memories….and yes some of a baby daddy that I would love to forget if not for the baby. 😉
This is before my time
This is awesome! I’m 40 and know all of them.! Thank you for the happy flashback in time. PS- There’s a reason you can’t tolerate the music today- it sucks. LOL.
No Michael Jackson, huh? I guess you get an idea of what my list would look like. LOL
I was barely born in the 80s but i do know some of these songs. this decade makes me laugh..im sure it was fun!
I was a single parent with a young child in the 80’s. It’s great hearing the music and remembering!
WOW! This list has brought back some memories! I love, Love, LOVE 80’s music!!
And now I bow to the Ultimate 80’s queen! You have just brought back some of the greatest memories. I so live for the 80’s and you are so right that this list could go on and on and on. 80’s music was the best music ever!!!
WOW! I love so many of these 80’s songs. I remember when so many of them came out and I would listen to them blaring in my car and in my house. I believe this era made some of the best music ever! I still listen to a lot of these great songs!
wow…loved so many of the songs you picked…my high school years were the beatles(yes, i’m dating myself)they were the best…even saw them live in concert in san francisco at the cow palace…it was the best! i’ll never forget it!
What a list what a list hahaha its taking me back!
Fantastic playlist! I’m a child of the 80s and got to grow up with some great music.
Love this
Love this! I LOVE 80’s music. I graduated High School in 87 and your list brings back good memories. They don’t make music like that anymore. I LOVE Prince and will always be a Prince fanatic!
oh wow! this post is great! I grew up in the 80s as well so you just took me back years ago! 🙂 I know pretty much all the songs you listed and each one has a memory connected to it , love it! and who doesn’t love prince? that’s the question! lol
Sigh….. that brought back some good memories 🙂 Can you believe my daughter thinks 80’s music is terrible? She doesn’t understand what she missed, does she????
I enjoyed a lot of those songs in the 80’s! I always thought Blondie was so catchy!
…I’ve found my next playlist for a party! These are great.
I love the songs! Well, I like the ones I know, of which there are more than I thought there’s be. I wonder what my playlist will be. In the 2000-2010, I listened to… Britney Spears? Well, not really, but music definitely went downhill somewhere.
Great list of music and I actually know most of them!
Love this list! I adore 80’s music and often don’t know the song names. 🙂
Fantastic list. My favourite period song-wise–70s and 80s. 🙂
Can’t beat that 80’s rock! Especially considering rock pretty much does not exist anymore!
I love 80’s music
Great list!! I was born in the 80s but I love these songs!!
Wow! Remembering these songs just gave me butterflies in my stomach as it brought me back to some good times! Thanks for the memories!!

Oh yeah. There’s my life. In song format, no less. Some music just gets better with age.
some of the best music ever
Yes, yes, yes to 1986. I was 6 then but the songs on that list are some of my favorites!
Great list. Mine would be the 60s.
LOL..you nailed it… mine was totally 80’s… I graduated hs in 88…and was talking to a “child bride” that lives next door who was BORN in 93…UGH…lol.. ( my get high music was a little different…all Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons Project… every time I hear something now I get a little misty… 😉 I grew up in a tiny Ohio town outside of Cincinnati, but went to school in the city to an all girl Catholic hs…this music is a soundtrack to my freakin’ rebellion…so thank you thank you for sharing… ( it looks a lot like my iPod…LOL)
this is amazing!! i grew up in the 90s but have always loved 80s music. just so good.
LOL! I like to say I hate 80s music but there really so much good stuff 😀
i love classics 🙂
I could feel my hair getting bigger and makeup more pronounced with each playlist. Nice!
I just heard from life flash before my eyes! Great lists!
The 80’s RULE 12/1980 love your hits
Pretty generic list. Looks more like something pulled from Billboard.com. Most of these songs I would have turned off. What makes lists like these personal is at least a little explaining on why you choose particular songs. Instead of just looking at a list from each year and pulling the songs off of it. A person of the 80’s remembers bands like The Judy’s or Bauhaus or Psychedelic Furs. Definitely not “Don’t Worry Be Happy” or anything from Paula Abdul. This is like seeing a list 30 years from now filled with Justin Bieber songs.
You were a loner in the 80’s, weren’t ya Bill??
Didn’t get laid to any of them? I told you mine, and why some were personal. Even which one I got laid to and ended up knocked up. You just complained.
Not the sharing type, eh? It’s OK… high school is over.
Dude, you’re safe here…
Party on Wayne. Err… Bill…
GJ
FYI- Justin Bieber is a punk and his parents should have spanked him more, 70’s style.
I found this list while doing a Google search. I would suggest turning the comment section off, so you won’t have to pretend your are laughing when someone posts a very valid opinion of what they’ve read. I mostly agree with Bill on the list. Only because I’d like to see “WHY?” some of these songs were chosen. I see one comment at the top, but no other validation of these songs in your life. I say lighten up and add some additional comments about some of the songs. I think, considering your sense of humor being very good, that it could be even more entertaining and fun with additional commentary by you.
It is a good list by the way, but I think it could be better.
