Apple Bourbon BBQ Ribs Recipe Summer Grilling So Fresh & Easy

Yep, totally happened! Apple Bourbon BBQ Ribs! I know! That is some serious good Summer grilling right there!  We had a big ole shin-dig over Memorial Day weekend and whipped up some Bourbon BBQ. Because, Bourbon. And Summer grilling. And Ribs!! Ya know what? I’ll never, ever, ever, never use regular BBQ sauce again! Like, never! I totally scored a deal on the baby back ribs and sweet corn at Fresh & Easy, so it was an even sweeter summer grilling day! Ribs on sale for $1.99 lb and corn 4 for $.99… Whaaaat?? I love Fresh & Easy like you wouldn’t believe! High quality, all natural and organic products without braving the Vegas heat at the farmer’s market! We had a house full too! Bourbon BBQ Ribs = Huge Hit! I was hoping my oldest son would be here this year but he’s still overseas until mid-June. Kinda bummed but he’ll be back in the states with plenty of time left to enjoy some Summer grilling! I know what I’ll be whipping up for his welcome home party! What did you do over the long holiday weekend? I’m just nosy like that…

I know, you want the Apple Bourbon BBQ Ribs recipe, so let’s get our summer grilling on, M’kay?

Bourbon BBQ Ribs Summer Grilling

Apple Bourbon BBQ Ribs Directions:

Let’s start by 1st rinsing and dry pat your ribs. We want to prep these soon to be awesome Bourbon BBQ Ribs for our fun Summer Grilling party friends and family. These will have a nice ‘kick’, let’s not get them sick too. Using a paring knife (or other super sharp  knife) remove the papery membrane from the back of your ribs. Rub them with a good quality olive oil. We’re using Bourbon, why skimp on oil, right?

Mix all the dry rub ingredients together in a large bowl using a whisk. Make sure it is thoroughly mixed so you don’t have anyone biting into a hot spot!  Apply the rub to the ribs liberally , really coat them good!  Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight is best)

Take the ribs out of the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking. Now, fire up that grill baby! If you’re using a charcoal grill, pile up your hot coals on one side of the grill. If using gas (we use gas) turn the burners off on 1 side.

Place your ribs directly on the fire (or heated burners) and sear them on both sides. Should take just a couple minutes per side. Don’t let them burn, we’re not cooking the Bourbon BBQ ribs completely, just some nice sear marks. Move to the indirect heat side of your grill. Cover grill and let them cook for at least 2 hours (slowly) While they are cooking make your Basting Sauce by whisking all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Baste your ribs with the sauce every 15 to 20 minutes. This is important so they don’t dry out. These Bourbon BBQ Ribs are fall off the bone full of the awesome if you follow me here! While those are slow grilling, let’s whip up the BBQ sauce!

Directions for BBQ Sauce:
In medium saucepan, melt the apple jelly on medium heat, stirring constantly. Whisk in the rest of the ingredients until you have a smooth sauce. I found this is a bit thinner in consistency than store bought sauces. But it tastes a hell of a lot better. Trust me! Summer grilling just went to a whole new level!

Bourbon BBQ Ribs Summer Grilling

Two hours into cooking pick up your rib slab with tongs. If they start pulling away from the bone they are almost done. If they don’t cover and check every 15 minutes. Brush them generously with your Bourbon BBQ Sauce and then place them back on the direct fire. Cook about 15 minutes, until the sauce caramelizes. This is where I started picking pieces off and ‘taste-testing’… Don’t. Once you start, you won’t stop. Then all your friends and family waiting on a smashing summer grilling party will be grumpy because you’re eating and they aren’t. Resist the urge! Remove ribs from the grill. It is always a good idea to let them rest about 15 minutes prior to separating. And that’s it! You just made the most amazeballs Apple Bourbon BBQ Ribs ever!! Enjoy! We also grilled up that sweet corn we picked up at Fresh & Easy. Keep the husk on. In a small saucepan melt butter, chipolte powder, a smidgen of lime juice. Wrap in husks and grill. When your corn is just about done, open husks, sprinkle with fresh shredded Parmesan cheese and put back on grill just until the cheese melts. Sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper, maybe some cilantro if you like and BAM! Gourmet sweet corn on a baller’s budget! To help you with that budget, print this $5 off a $20 purchase at Fresh & Easy! It’s really THAT #FNEasy my friends! You’re welcome!

Wait? What?? Summer grilling parties aren’t a party without dessert?? You’re totally right!! Check out these seriously cool Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes. I know! I just keep giving and giving today!!
